MUNICIPAL AUDITORIUM

A masterwork by San Antonio architect Atlee B. Ayres, this Spanish Colonial Revival structure was finished in 1926 and dedicated to the war dead of World War II. The site of countless San Antonio pageants, including Fiesta Coronations, it was destroyed by fire in the late 70's and recently restored. [Note: An earlier Jim Robinson-directed television drama, "The Estate Sale" was inspired by a visit to an estate sale being held in architect Ayres' home. The film was shot in the same house and was broadcast on The Disney channel, PBS affiliates and European television.]
