Olmos Dam

OLMOS DAM

Because a significant portion of the rainfall from the Texas Hill Country drains through this small valley, the city was historically plagued by disastrous seasonal floods -- until this dam was built in the late 1920's. Crossing through a significant Native American archeological site -- an ancient migration trail from the midwest to Mexico -- Olmos Dam is just north of the headwaters of the San Antonio river, which are at Worth's Springs. The location for the house used as Fletcher's home is just on the other side of the dam.
