Crew Diaries:
MICHAEL KOCUREK
Leadman

glorified furniture moving

"What's a Leadman?" you ask? A Leadman is responsible for hiring the Set Dressing crew and basically the rest adds up to what can be most accurately described as, "A glorified furniture mover". The job mostly entails coordinating the timely pick-up and delivery of the set dressing -- furnitiure, rugs, lamps, pictures, knick-knacks and any and every object you see on a movie set except the props that the actors handle. The Leadman also insures that the Set Decorators have enough Set Dressers to dress a set in the amount of time that production has seen fit to give us.

Now that we have cleared that up, I can honestly say that working on "Still Breathing" was one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life. I was allowed, and even encouraged, to be involved in the outcome of almost every shot that we got on film. The fact that I came away from this film with more good friends than any other project that I've been on speaks volumes for the crew of "Still Breathing". No one job was ever more important than another. And I was able to come away with some really great stories to tell my grandchildren! (When I get them.)

Director's notes: One of the great things that Michael and his crew did on the film was painstakingly create the "cairns" that Fletcher builds in the film -- and RE-create them exactly after they were destroyed on-camera!
