MAY 16, 1996
Since arriving in LA, I have spent much of my time at the offices of ZapPictures. A hive of activity on Wilshire Boulevard... a friendly team of people. Shannon, Maria, Johanna, John, Julie, Marshall, Steve and Amy. None are scared to work the long hours. I have been named chief script collator (however that is spelt) by me mate Shannon. Whenever Jim decides that changes need to be made in his script, which apparently is not uncommon, then new scripts must be photocopied and distributed, with changes, to cast and department heads. This is when I must feed the changes into the photocopier (which jams after every ten pages) and put the new pages into the script. A spoke in the wheel of creativity.
THE SIZE OF THE WHOLE MOVIE-MAKING OPERATION...
Having watched plenty of movies at the local Randwick Ritz cinemas in Sydney, I am constantly amazed at the amount of people, organisation and focus that goes into this "making movies." And they haven't even started filming yet. I'll be interested to see how they stay in the creative mode with all this precision decision-making going on.
I look forward to travelling to Texas. Apparently it is hot.
Damn hot.
